November is a special month to me for two important reasons. First, we celebrate Veterans Day every November 11, and second, this is the season of Thanksgiving.
As many of you know, I served in the United States Air Force during the Persian Gulf War and am thankful for all who served throughout our 238 year history so that we can enjoy the freedoms that other countries only dream about. The American Dream is to own one’s home and to own a business. I am continually thankful that, as a franchise consultant, I enable people to live the American Dream of entrepreneurship.
According to a new 2014 Veterans-in-Franchising progress report released last week, more than 50,000 veterans have found employment in the franchise industry over the past year and more than 400 veterans have become local franchise business owners.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, now is the perfect opportunity to count our blessings. My family and I are grateful for our good health, and every day I am thankful for this rewarding business that allows me to continue to serve.
Not many people get to do what they love each and every day, and I have the privilege of helping people make truly life-changing decisions. It never gets old! I’ve been a franchise consultant for 12 years now, and I look forward to the next 12.
I am so grateful for the various outplacement firms, career professionals and executive coaches who have continued to refer their clients to me, as well as new firms and career coaches who have found our services and resources to be of benefit to their clients.
Throughout the year, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. I thank them for allowing me to be their guide as they discovered their next career or investment move. Of special note are: Bonnye, Rodney, Stephanie, Jason, Larry, Terry, Sherry, Brad, Alicia, Robert, Susan, Jeff, Cindy and Tim.
And finally, I’m thankful to my loyal readers of this monthly newsletter. Please send me a quick email letting me know what you’re thankful for. I’d love to hear from you!
Many blessings to you and your family,
Certified Franchise Executive Candidate

Larry K. was 54 years old when he got the phone call from his boss telling him he was out of a job. Larry had spent his entire adult life in the banking industry, serving as an area appraisal manager for the largest home loan lender in the nation; when the home loan volume went away, so his job.
Faced with the complete shock of losing his job, Larry took several months to let his head clear, traveling and visiting family and friends around the country. Then he started investigating options to replace his income.
“Anna told me to keep an open mind as we went through the process of determining a good fit for me, and I agreed.”
After going through the franchise search procedure, Larry was awarded a franchise he never thought he’d own when the process started — a boutique fitness concept. Larry will open his franchise in the Spring of 2015 as an owner and also a client, but today, he’s focusing on the new opportunity ahead of him while expressing his gratitude for the work Wilds and her team at Franchise Locators did.
“There is no way I would be here today without Anna. If she hadn’t prepared me for this process, I probably would have dismissed this franchise very early on.”
“Anna knows franchises inside and out. She knows the pitfalls and roadblocks. She prepares her candidates well in advance so that when situations arise, you know what to expect. I’m just excited for what’s to come.”
